Learn Italian in Tuscany @ Il Sasso
All you have to know about Il Sasso - Italian language school:
Address: Via di Gracciano nel Corso, 2 - 53045 Montepulciano (SI) The school is open all year round. There will be no lessons on the following Italian public holidays: 6th January, Easter Monday, 25th April, 1st May, 2nd June, 15th August, 1st November and 8th December. Total number of classrooms: 8 + 1 conference hall. Restroom for disabled people available Small library for students, book sharing, DVDs Panoramic terrace for students Free Internet access for students, high speed connection, wireless area Laundry-mat at a 5 minutes walk from the school (paid) Opening hours: 8 am - 4 pm (office) 8.30 am - 6 pm (lessons) Saturday and Sunday the school is closed. Group courses: 3-9 participants (average: 5-6 students per class) The group courses consist of 4 hours (55 minutes each), Monday to Friday, 20 hours per week. Schedule: 8.45 am - 10.15 am, break, 10.45 am - 12.15 am, break, 12.30 am - 1.10 pm If the group consists only of two students the school will offer 3 hours of lessons per day. If there is no suitable group available to an applicant, the school will offer 2 hours of individual tuition per day at the same price of the booked course. Individual tuition is available both morning and afternoon. Culture course are always available, even though it is possible that they are held as individual tuition instead of group classes. The costs change according to the number of participants. Mini-courses two or three afternoons per week, for students interested in getting to know more about Italian life and culture. Fixed dates. Minimum three participants. The minimum age for enrolment is 16 years. There is no maximum age. Teaching materials such as photocopies are included in the price. It is possible either to buy or to borrow the text books. Levels based on the "Common European Framework of Reference for Languages" of the European Council: beginners, elementary, intermediate I, intermediate II, advanced I, advanced II.
At the end of the course students receive an attendance certificate.
Students who already speak some Italian may start classes every Monday, whereas newcomers to the language must start at the scheduled starting dates.
The courses start after a placement test (written grammar test and short interview, 8.45 am 10 am). For complete beginners there is no test so lessons start right away.
Every Sunday before the start of a new course (see dates) the school team will be available between 4 pm and 7 pm to accompany the students to their lodgings. Those who wish to arrive on a different day, can contact our secretary at least one week prior their arrival date to make arrangements.
Every Sunday before the calendar starting dates there is an introduction and welcome meeting at 7 pm at school. Students get a small info pack and have a glass of wine all together.
Students can choose from various options of accommodation, from homestay to luxury villas. The school can take care of reservations.
